This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Mesophyllum schmitzii (Hariot) Mendoza
Type locality: Scotia Bay, South Orkney Islands (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 228). Holotype: Anon.; vii.1903; 9-10 fathoms, ‘paa [= on] Lithoph. decipiens’. TRH B1-1620 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 228).

Adjective (Latin), crenulate, having small rounded teeth (Stearn 1973).
