The type species (holotype) of the genus Dictyota is Dictyota dichotoma (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Canistrocarpus cervicornis f. pseudohamatus (Cribb) M.J.Wynne.
