Lectotype locality: Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 617). Type: Harvey; Herb. Agardh, LD 46202 (Womersley 1987: 122). Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Kylin (1940: 30) for more information on the lectotype locality of this species. Harvey, Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 91 (Womersely (1987)).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), worm-shaped, almost cylindrical and bent in places, marked with irregular waves or bent lines (Stearn 1973).
