Type locality: Cape Agulhas, South Africa (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 273). Lectotype: collector not indicated; date not indicated; no habitat data on type. CN Hohenhacker specimen 236 in Algae Marinae Siccatae, specimen in the Lenormand herbarium; designated by Chamberlain in Woelkerling & Verheij, 1995: 38 (Woelkerling 1998: 306). Notes: Isolectotypes: PC, unnumbered, Thuret-Bornet Herbarium (algal fascicle 131, filed under Lithothamnion); BM, sheet collections, unnumbered (filed under Lithophyllum); L (see Woelkerling & Verheij, 1995: 38).
