Nomenclatural note
"This species was described from the island of Milos (Greece) by Lazaridou & Boudouresque (1992: 562. It was later reported with fertile thalli (tetrasporophytes and female gametophytes bearing carposporocysts) from the upper Ionian Sea (Cheradi Islands, Italy) by Cecere et al. (op. cit.); it has also been reported from two other locations in Italy (fide Cecere et al., 1996: 194): Catania (Ionian Sea) and Ponza Island (Tyrrhenian Sea); while Piazzi et al.
