According to Silva et al. (1996) Bryopsis harveyana J.Agardh 1887: 22-23 is a possible taxonomic or nomenclatural synonym of this species. According to Silva et al. (1996) the name Bryopsis cespitosa has been misapplied to this species by Jadin (1935: 156). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
