Taxonomic notes
According to Verlaque et al. (2003: 336), their genetic and morphological data provide undisputed evidence that C. racemosa var. laetevirens f. cylindracea and var. laetevirens (including var. peltata, which are allopatric in Australia), are two distinct taxa. They propose the new combination C. racemosa var. cylindracea (basionym: C. cylindracea; homotypic synonym: C. racemosa var. laetevirens f. cylindracea; heterotypic synonym: C. cylindracea var. macra Harvey). C. cylindracea var. macra: "[looks like incorrect usage because authors cite C. cylindracea var. macra Harvey 1858, but there is already C. ramosa var. macra Weber-van Bosse 1913.]" (INA). - (02 July 2012) - G.M. Guiry
According to Silva et al. (1996) this taxon apparently lies within the circumspection of Caulerpa peltata but has not yet been transferred or reduced to synonymy. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
