This is a marine species.
Found in intertidal rocky reef pools and subtidally at depths of 0.1-3 m on a variety of algal hosts including species of Apjohnia, Caulerpa, Acrocarpia, Sargassum, Scaberia, Zonaria, Laurencia, Metamastophora and Osmundaria; specimens also on limpets, snails and abalone (Woelkerling & Campbell 1992: 36). Also on the seagrass Amphibolis antarctica... and subtidally to depths of 10 m (Womersley 1996: 221).
Holotype locality: Lucky Bay, Cape Le Grand National Park, Esperance, Western Australia (Woelkerling & Campbell 1992: 34). Holotype: Woelkerling, Platt & Jones; 9 February 1984; Epiphytic on Laurencia. LTB 14334 (Woelkerling & Campbell 1992: 34).
