Type locality: Cave Cays, Exuma Chain, Bahamas (Woelkerling 1998: 355). Holotype: M.A. Howe; 19.ii.1905; under rock overhang, low littoral. NY Howe no. 4021 (Woelkerling 1998: 355). Notes: Isotypes: PC, Howe no. 4021, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym); BM, Howe no. 4021, algal box collection 922; L 942.360-29 (Howe no. 4021); TRH, Howe no4021, includes slide 1579 and two slides numbered Howe 4021.
