Type locality: Drøbak, Norway (Woelkerling 1998: 344). Lectotype: H. Gran; 12.vii.1893; no habitat data on type. TRH C10-3114, includes slide 177; designated by Adey in Adey & Lebednik, 1967: 78 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 430). Notes: Isolectotypes: Foslie no. 15, Thuret-Bornet Herbarium (box collection, filed under Lithothamnion flabellatum f. granii); BM, algal box collection 420.
