This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithothamnion norvegicum (Areschoug) Kjellman
Type locality: Røberg [now Raudberget], Trondheimsfjorden, Norway (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 427). Lectotype: 1.viii.1894; collection depth: ca 10 fathoms. TRH C9-3097 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 413).
