Taxonomic note
Taxon inquirendum (Furnari, pers. comm.). "S. humilis Kützing [taxon inquirendum]. This species was described by Kützing (1849: 897) from the Ionian Sea and later by the same author illustrated in his Tabulae Phycologicae (Kützing, 1862: 6, pl. 18a-c). After its description, the species was recorded only three times: by Grunow (1861, fide Gerloff & Geissler, 1974: 780) from Greek islands, Funk (1927: 469) from Secca di S. Giovanni a Teduccio (Gulf of Naples, Italy) and Schiffner (1931: 166) from the Island of Su%u0161ac (Croatia). According to Gómez Garreta et al. (2001: 448) we consider it as a taxon inquirendum."
