This binomial must be accredited to Zanardini only, because the intended basionym Hutchinsia biasolettoana (“biasolettiana”) C. Agardh (1828: 106) is illegitimate being a later homonym of Hutchinsia biasolettoana (“biasolettiana”) C.Agardh (1827: 638), considered by the same C.Agardh (1828: 107) as synonym of Hutchinsia variegata C.Agardh (1824: 153) (Furnari et al., 1999, errata corrige). - (11 May 2006) - G.M.
