"... from the illustration given by Kützing (1862, pl. 9 a,b), Phlebothamnion corymbiferum is clearly a Callithamnion. Therefore it can't be considered as a synonym of Dasya corymbifera (as erroneously made by Furnari & al., 1999: 29). Phlebothamnion corymbiferum Kützing and Callithamnion corymbiferum (Kützing) Trevisan should be considered as a synonyms of Callithamnion corymbosum (J.E. Smith) Lyngbye as made by Hauck (1882: 85) and Ardissone (1883: 70, as C. corymbosum var. corymbiferum (Kützing) Ardissone)." (Furnari pers. comm. 1 June 2022). "The basi-onym of this species (Phlebothamnion corymbiferum Kützing) was described from Chiozza (= Chioggia, Italy) by Kützing (1843: 375) and illustrated by him in his Tabulae Phycologicae (Kützing, 1862: 3, pl. 9/Ia-b).
