Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Sporolithon howei (Me.Lemoine) N.Yamaguishi-Tomita ex M.J.Wynne.
Type Information
Type locality: Station 2, Coiba Island, Gulf of Panama, Pacific Oceania; (Woelkerling 1998: 285) Holotype: C. Crossland; date not indicated but material forms part of the St George Expedition of 1923-1924; PC; unnumbered, General Herbarium Box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym) (Woelkerling 1998: 285) Notes: PC 0731949; attached to substratum, dredged at 9 m depth (Gabrielson et al., 2023: [6]).
