This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithophyllum stictiforme (Areschoug) Hauck.

Bressan & Babbini-Benussi (1995: 374), on the ground of the paper by Woelkerling et al. (1993: 326), used the name Lithophyllum grandiusculum for Lithophyllum expansum Philippi sensu Lemoine, that in effect should be referred to Lithophyllum frondosum (Furnari et al., 1999). - (11 May 2006) - G.M.
