Taxonomic note
Entity of uncertain taxonomic position (Furnari et al., 1999). Included in synonymy with Acrochaetium secundatum by Athanasiadis (2016: 87) with a question mark. "This species, described by Kützing (1861: 18, pl. 56/II) from Brittany, according to Hauck (1882: 39-41) is a synonym of Chantransia virgatula [= Acrochaetium secundatum (Lyngbye) Nägeli]; according to Ardissone (1883: 277) is a synonym of Ch. saviana (Meneghini) J. Agardh [= Colaconema savianum (Meneghini) R. Nielsen]; ac-cording to Athanasiadis (2016: 87) is instead considered (with doubt) as a synonym of Ac. secundatum. Agreeing with Furnari et al. (1999: 120 and 2003: 359) we consider it as a taxon inquirendum." (Cormaci & al. 2023: 318). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
