Nomenclatural note
Batters (1896: 384) cited "Oscillaria rosea Crouan frat." a pre-starting date name; the Batters name is treated here as a new name and the earliest available for the combination. The name was listed as a "species inquirendae" (and therefore not accepted) by Gomont (1892: 239), and thus Batters's application of the name seems to be the earliest post-starting-date name. Various attributions, all technically incorrect, have been used: Oscillatoria rosea P.L.Crouan & H.M.Crouan ex Gomont and Oscillatoria rosea P.L.Crouan & H.M.Crouan ex Batters. - (17 February 2014) - M.D. Guiry
