Taxonomic note
According to Burrows (1991: 125), this is synonymous with Pseudodendoclonium submarinum, but this is clearly incorrect as Pseudendoclonium marinum (Reinke) Aleem & E.Schulz has nomenclatural priority; Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi (2014: 86), however, agree with Lund (1959) that Protoderma marinum Reinke was insufficiently described by Reinke and that both species of the genus Pseudodendoclonium should be considered taxa inquirenda. - (11 May 2006) - G.M.
