This name is currently regarded as a taxonomic synonym of Anabaena pseudoscillatoria Bory de Saint-Vincent
Type locality: not specified (Everquem, near Gent, Belgium) (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 68). Notes: This type locality was first described by Drouet (1978: 157, 186) (Silva et al., 1996)
