The type species (lectotype) of the genus Rhizoclonium is Rhizoclonium juergensii (Mertens) Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pseudorhizoclonium rhizophilum (W.R.Taylor) Boedeker.
