Type Species
This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Chrysodidymus.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Synura synuroidea (Prowse) Pusztai, Certnerová, Skaloudová & Skaloud.

Type Information
Type locality: Malacca - in acid swamps, Malaya; (Pusztai et al. 2016) Holotype: Prowse 248a: acid swamps; Tropical Fish Culture Res. Inst., Malacca; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Neotype: Portion of a single gathering of cells from strain CAUP B712 on SEM stub no. NEOTYPE-B712. Neotype location: Strain S95.E4 was isolated from a small unnamed lake near Loch Garten in the Grampian Mountains, Scotland (57°13'32.55N, 3°43'20.71"W).
