Børgesen (1941: 66) cites this species as Sargassum heterophyllun (Turner) C. Agardh. Fucus heterophyllus Turner is illeditimate as it is a later homonym of Fucus heterophyllus C.L.Willdenow, 1794. Sargassum heterophyllum C.Agardh is thus treated as a new name. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
