The type species (holotype) of the genus Bumilleria is Bumilleria borziana N.Wille.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Xanthonema exile (Klebs) P.C.Silva.

Type locality: bei Milazzo in Sicilien; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Epitype strain: SAG 2286; lagoon mudflat, Baltic Sea, RĂ¼gen Island, Vitter Bodden, Germay (Rybalka et al., 2020: table 1).

Adjective B (Latin), thin, slender, meagre, poor (Brown 1946).
