Syntype localities: Table Bay and False Bay, Cape Province, South Africa (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 221). Notes: Woelkerling et al. (2008) note that the designation of a lectotype has not been achieved through effective publication (ICBN, Art. 7.10).
