Kützing (1843: 176) used the binomical Tetraspora explanata without reference to C.Agardh and cited in synonymy "Ulva lubrica Funk. Crypt. Gew. Heft 13, No. 278." Kützing (1849: 225) later credited the name to C. Agardh. - (10 November 2015) - M.D. Guiry
