General environment
This is a Marine species.

Usage notes
An armoured, marine, planktonic dinoflagellate. It is a toxic species found in coastal regions and brackis environments. Faust & Gulledge (2002: 17) notes this species produces a unique phycotoxin, goniodomin A (GA), it has an antifungal effect. The toxin goniodomin targets the liver and thymus.
