Taxonomic notes
A number of varieties are recognised by Irvine & Chamberlain (1994). Woelkerling & Campbell (1992) include Titanoderma in Lithophyllum but the genus is maintained by Irvine & Chamberlain (1994, p. 89). John et al. (2004) cite Dermatolithon hapalidioides (P. Crouan & H. Crouan Foslie, Dermatolithon nephalidioides (P. Crouan & H. Crouan) Foslie, Dermatolithon pustulatum (J.V. Lamour.) Foslie, Lithophyllum hapalidioides (P. Crouan & H. Crouan) Foslie var. confinis (P. Crouan & H. Crouan) Foslie, Melobesia pustulatum J.V. Lamour, Titanoderma confine (P. Crouan & H. Crouan) J.H. Price , D.M. John & G.W. Lawson and Titanoderma pustulatum (J.V. Lamour.) Woelk. et al. as synonyms of this species. According to Womersley (1996: 227), Titanoderma pustulata (Lamouroux) Nägeli 1858 is a synonym of Lithophyllum pustulatum.
