The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Otohimella japonica (Yamada) Mas.Suzuki, T.Segawa, Hi.Mori & H.Nozaki.
