Type locality: Penguin Bank (21Ý 03' N, 157Ý 47' W), off northwest end of the island of Moloka'i and to the southeast of the island O'ahu, Hawai'i; (Norris, Abbott & Agegian 1995: 195) Holotype: C.R. Agegian; 14 May 1985; Incidental among crustose corallines; attached and growing prostrate on large, loose carbonate boulders scattered over the sand plain at 80 m depth.
