Taxonomic note
According to South & Skelton (2000: 81) and N'Yeurt (pers. comm.), Ceramium sympodiale E.Y. Dawson 1957 is synonymous with C. subdichotomum Weber-van Bosse 1923; however, Abbott (1999) and Meneses (1995) place C. sympodiale with C. borneense Weber-van Bosse. The type material in question requires examination. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
