Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Laurencia is Laurencia obtusa (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Palisada robusta K.W.Nam.

Type locality: Kotosho (Hung-t’ou), Taiwan.; Holotype: S. Sasaki; v. 1924; SAP; 13883 (Yoshida 1998: 1038) Notes: Type is illustrated by Masuda et al. (1998, fig. 24).
