Type locality: Britain (Hill 1991: 177). Type: Butcher; (Hill 1991: 177). Notes: River Crouch in Essex and shell-fish tanks at Conway in North Wales (INA).

Adjective A (Latin), acute, pointed; i.e. narrowing gradually and making an angle of less than 90° (Stearn 1973).
