Type locality: Kew Gardens, England; (Index Nominum Algarum) Type: Dr. Arnott; in tank of Victoria regia; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: [Grunow saw specimens from Glasgow and Kew Gardens, but illustrated one from Tahiti; descr. based on?] (INA).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective A (Latin), foreign; wandering, travelling about; exotic strange (Brown 1946).
