Eponomy
Named in honour of Dr Lynda Goff of the University of California, Santa Cruz.
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Algae roughly spherical, gelatinous, to 14 mm in height and to 18 mm across, lobed; lobes to 2-4 mm in thickness; cortical cells cylindrical, to 4 microns in diameter; carpogonial branches 3-celled; auxiliary cells intercalary in cortical filaments; nutritive cells, typically 1(-2). borne on cells immediately contiguous to the auxiliary cell, occasionally a third nutritive cell is borne on a basal branch cell adjacent to the auxiliary cell; gonimoblast initials are formed from a connecting filament adjacent to the auxiliary cell; mature carposporophytes ovate to irregularly spherical in shape, to 110 microns in largest dimension; algae monoecious, spermatangia produced sparsely from the distal one or two cortical cells; tetrasporophytes unknown.
