This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Phacus ocellatus (Pringsheim) Marin & Melkonian.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), marked with two-coloured spots, having the centre of one colour surrounded by a broad ring of another (Stearn 1973).
