Taxonomic note
According to Van den Hoek (1963) this species is synonymous with Cladophora glomerata var. crassior (C.Agardh) Hoek. The taxon illustrated by Dillwyn (1802: pl. 9) is not this species. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
