Type locality: Slovakia: Vysoké Tatry [High Tatra Mountains] (Silva 1996-to date). Type: Strain UTEX 1343 permanently preserved in a metabolically inactive state (cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen) in UTEX (epitype) (Pröschold et al. 2001: 290).
