Agardh (1876, p. 571) and Womersley (unpubl. notes of 20 February 1952) as synonymous with Mychodea terminalis, but is here treated as a synonym of M. carnosa." No type material of M. mallardiae has been seen, as no specimens appear to be extant in L, MEL or TCD.
