Type locality: "In ligno putrido Oceani pacifici calidioris." [In the rotting wood of the warmer Pacific Ocean; Friendly Isles, now Tonga]; (Agardh 1876: 14) Notes: Described from Harvey's Friendly Isles Exsiccata No. 112. Type at LD. Not clear if this is freshwater or marine.
