This is a marine species.
Type locality: Gardner Bay, I. Española, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador (Taylor 1945: 216, 217). Holotype: cystocarpic: W.R. Taylor no. 34-417; 31 January 1934; frequent as dredged in 37-55 m at sta. 203 from a rocky bottom near an islet in Gardner Bay. Hancock Foundation (Taylor 1945: 216,217). Notes: Holotype: UC 1884384 (AHFH108); Isotype: MICH 1306499 (Clarkston & Saunders 2012: 47).
