The type species (lectotype) of the genus Cladophoropsis is Cladophoropsis membranacea (Bang ex C.Agardh) Børgesen.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cladophoropsis herpestica (Montagne) M.Howe.

Taxonomic note
Abbott & Huisman (2004) treat Cladophropsis adhaerens Gilbert as a synonym of Cladophropsis membranacea, but a later treatment of the genus by Leliaert & Coppejans (2006) include it in synonymy with Cladophora herpestica. - (23 May 2007) - G.M. Guiry
