The type species (holotype) of the genus Phycodrys is Phycodrys sinuosa (Goodenough & Woodward) Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Phycodrina elegans (Setchell & N.L.Gardner) M.J.Wynne.
