General Environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Cells are small, roughly rectangular to almost square with more or less round edges, 17.5-35.0 µm (27.4 ± 4.3 µm) long and 15.0-27.5 µm (20.0 ± 3.9 µm) deep, with a length/depth ratio of 1.1-1.4 (1.3 ± 0.1). They are flattened laterally and the hypotheca is longer at the dorsal side. In lateral view the cell is posterior sloping dorsoventrally, slightly pointed dorsally. The cylindrical epitheca is small, 5.0-7.5 µm (6.0 ± 1.2 µm) deep, constitutes about one-third of the hypotheca depth, and is notably asymmetric. The 'anterior cingulum list', surrounding the epitheca, has different heights. It is high on the dorsal and narrows sharply toward the ventral side or it is high on the dorsal and ventral sides and narrows at the center. Ventrally, the right epithecal plate (E3) has a large hollow-like structure with an apical pore inside. The deep cingulum is relatively wide and surrounded by a well-developed smooth posterior cingulum list, which is part of the hypothecal plates. The sulcus is located on the right cell side and about three-quarters the hypotheca length. The cell is colorless and usually contains numerous small colorless granules. The thecal surface is smooth with small and large pores. The small pores are distributed randomly over the thecal surface. There are some large pores along the edges of the plate. Furthermore, there are three large pores situated in a cluster posterior dorsally. The hypotheca, when treated with sodium hypochlorite, was found to be divided into three plates. The left (H2) and right (H3) lateral plates have cavities on the ventral sides. the cavity on the H3 is deeper than that on the H2. Both lateral hypothecal plates have a cingular list along the upper edge and the H3 plate also has such a list on the upper ventral side. The ventral plate (H4) is narrow and long. it has a list that is somewhat unequal in width on the right side and with a notched edge on the left side. One more small ventral plate between the H4 and H2 plates, which is apparently H1. Only the posterior sulcal plate could be observed from the sulcal plates. It looks like a spoon. Its narrow part is about two-thirds of the plate length and has two projections at the anterior part.
