Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dictyota dichotoma var. intricata (C.Agardh) Greville.

type locality: [in mari rubro ad oras Abyssiniae] Eritrea, Red Sea; (De Clerck 2003: 160) Holotype: MEL; 537252 (De Clerck 2003: 160) Notes: Dictyota abyssinica was often regarded as a synonym of D. fasciola (J. Agardh, 1882: 103; De Toni, 1895: 277) but the type specimen belongs to D. dichotoma var. intricata.
