Nomenclatural note
According to De Clerck (2003), Schousboe, a collector of algae along the North African coast, provided many descriptions which accompanied his herbarium, but they were never published by himself. He notes that Bornet (1892) published a list of the algae of Shousboe and included all the unpublished manuscript names, which are in fact nomina nuda. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
Taxonomic note
Synonymy (De Clerck (2003)) follows Bornet (1892: 227). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
