Dictyota rotundata J.V.Lamouroux
Type locality: Mediterranean Sea (African coast) (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 901). Holotype: CN C7F65 (De Clerck 2003: 176). Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Lamouroux (1809b) for further information regarding the type locality of this species. According to De Clerck (2003), the type locality is [Côtes de Barbarie] North Africa, Mediterranean Sea. He notes that the original description and the type specimen mention North Africa as type locality. Confusion arose when Kützing (1849: 557) stated that the Indian Ocean was the original locality.
