Type locality: New Caledonia; (Millar & Prud'homme van Reine 2005: 538) Lectotype: Vieillard; L; 936.291-5 (barcode L 0194020) (Millar & Prud'homme van Reine 2005: 538) Notes: Type: Vieillard # 2035. Millar & Prud'homme van Reine (2005: 538) note that there are several specimens under this name, and Kützing did not illustrate the species in his Tabulae Phycologicae. They designate the specimen annotated with Kützing's handwriting as the lectotype.
