Baie du Marin (Bollard), Ile de la Possession, Crozet Archipelago; (Van De Vijver & al. 2005: 128)6 February 2002; Dry to semi-wet soil samples from cliff bordering the coast; BRM; Zu5/74 (Van De Vijver & al. 2005: 128, 131) Notes: Type from sample BA173. Isotype: PLP-054 (Univ. of Antwerp, RUCA), BR4097 (National Botanical garden, Meise), CAS221076 (California Academy of Science).

Description
Valves as described in the genus diagnosis, 6-11 microns long, 2-2.5 microns wide, raphe filiform, apparently straight. Axial area very narrow, central area not separated. Striae not resolvable in LM but the alveoli (striae in SEM) around 50 in 10 microns, moderately radiate towards the ends, there subparallel or slightly convergent. Externally, the transapical costae are covered with very small wart-like outgrowths. Usually possesses two stigmata, irregularly placed, transapically elongated but externally difficult to find, quite visible in the interior view.
