Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tetraëdron regulare var. papilliferum (Schröder) Playfair.

[Bartsch River, Silesia, Germany]; (Schröder 1897: 29, 44) Schroeder; no date provided; Notes: INA gives the type locality as Trachenberg (Germany) but Schroeder (1897: 29) discusses two sites on the Bartsch River and provides various dates of collection in the Autumn.

Adjective (Latin), tigone, thickening of angles [of cells] (Stearn 1973).
